Spring Makeup Trends

Okay, so it may seem that I'm getting a little bit ahead of myself by discussing Spring makeup trends just a couple of days into March, but in reality the first day of Spring is less than a mere few weeks away (scary right?!) So, in celebration of the upcoming season I thought that I'd share with you some of my favourite Spring makeup trends that are just beginning to blossom out of the fashion industry!

The 'No Makeup' Makeup

While I love nothing more than applying a full face of make up (let's face it, nothing else can make you feel quite as glamorous as a smokey eye and movie-star red lips) some days I just don't have the motivation (or time) to be spending half an hour on makeup, especially if I'm in a hurry (which just so happens to be most of the time!) Taking a more minimalist approach to your makeup by using a mere few products is the perfect way to fake flawless skin whilst still making it look like your own! I find that keeping everything to a bare minimum is an excellent time-keeper and can be tailored to suit your greatest makeup needs! If you have the confidence to whittle your makeup collection down to bare necessities, this may just be the look for you!

Pop Princess

Adding a pop of colour with neon-toned lipsticks seems to be one of the most popular upcoming trends this Spring, and while I doubt I'd ever be quite brave enough to don fuschia on my lips, a little injection of colour can really lift your appearance.

Pretty in Plum

I doubt I could ever pull of plum eyeshadow without making it look like I had acquired a painfully swollen black eye, but I must admit that I'm absolutely adoring the purple-eyed trend that seems to be circulating the catwalk at present. Plum is such a versatile shade that suits pretty much all skin tones and eye colours and can easily be blended with other colours to achieve your desired look. And plum shades aren't just for eyes- they've been cooking up a storm in the lipstick department too, with celebrities like Kendall Jenner sporting pomegranate lips. Although I do tend to associate deep-toned makeup with autumn-time, I'm a self-confessed lover of all things burgundy, so am happy to prolong the reign of plum over the beauty world!

The Colossal Cat-Eye

I must admit that I still haven't quite mastered the exceptionally tricky art of cat-eyes (bad beauty blogger, I know!) Although my attempts have been made ten times easier thanks to the addition of felt tip liners, I still can't quite perfect that fierce feline flick that pretty much every other woman and her cat can. Anyway, enough of my beauty woes. Cat-eyes stormed the runways and the blogosphere for pretty much the entirety of last year, but now they're back with a little bit of a twist. Much bolder and more graphic designs are being experimented with which can really help accentuate the eyes and would be perfect paired with a smokey eye to create a smouldering look.

Russian Red Lips

Similarly to the uprising of plum lipsticks, reds are also making a major comeback this Springtime. With such a diverse selection of shades varying from scarlet to wine, red-toned lipsticks are some of the most versatile around, meaning there's a shade for every skin tone and occasion!

Rise of the Shine

Long gone are the days of dull Winter skin; Spring is bringing shine back. Although dewy skin is one of the most popular makeup trends pretty much the whole year round, Spring tends to be the perfect time to start introducing a bit of a glow to your skin if you haven't already. Highlighter, and heaps of it, has to be the most useful tool to be equipped with when attempting to master the delicacy of dewy skin, but some radiance-inducing foundations and moisturisers will also do the job perfectly!

Starry Eyes

Although heaps of glitter does tend to be something I associate with the Christmas party season, sparkling shadows have been playing a major part in the recent Spring fashion shows. Not only can a bit of shimmer be used to brighten up the eyes, it can also be easily built up to create stand-out sparkling peepers which are perfect for evenings out.

Baby Blue Eyes

Blue eyeliner also seems to be making a bit of a comeback, with many models spotted sporting bold blue eye makeup on the catwalk. The great thing about this trend is just how easily it can be tailored to suit your requirements; if you're wanting something with a little more subtlety than an eye-catching electric blue cat-eye, you can simply run a small amount of navy or aqua-blue kohl in your waterline to produce a slightly more eccentric look than the norm, but one which is still be easily wearable.

Bold & Bushy Brows

The whole 'bold & bushy' brows trend has stormed the fashion industry in recent years, and Cara Delevingne continues to be one of the most iconic (unofficial) big brow ambassadors around. Whilst my eyebrows are pathetically sparse due to over plucking, I'm absolutely obsessed with this trend as eyebrows really do frame the face and can make a surprisingly large difference to your appearance.

So that's it for today's post- something a little bit different than the norm but I hope you enjoyed it nonetheless!

What are your favourite trends this springtime?
