Summer Nails | 2014

Nail varnish is annoyingly forbidden at my school, so throughout the summer holidays I tend to take full advantage of being able to wear as much colour on my nails as possible. I've been wearing five colours somewhat excessively and unsurprisingly, they're all from Barry M!

Although all of the polishes are from the same brand, they all produce a diverse range of nail effects. For example, the two furthest to the left are both 'Textured Nails' which produce a matte finish with tiny grains to add a bit of grit and coarseness to your nails. In the middle is a gorgeous 'Limited Edition Nail Paint' and is specially designed for summer wear. To the right of that is a lighter lilac which is also just a standard nail paint, producing a glossy and sleek finish. On the end is another style of textured nail varnish but is instead a part of the 'Royal Textured Glitter Collection'. The glitter within the formula makes your nails glimmer but also creates a slightly coarse touch to them.

I attempted to swatch these varnishes but, as you can see from the picture, they didn't go quite to plan, so you'll therefore have to be more reliant on my description!

The first shade is 'Ridley Road', a gorgeously bright minty green but is still pale enough to be classed as a pastel colour. This has a relatively matte but grainy finish and requires very few coats to create a solid colour.

The next varnish has an identical finish to 'Ridley Road', drying both matte and rather textured. Instead, this is called 'Atlantic Road', a similarly bright shade but with icy blue undertones.

Next along is 'Bikini' which has shown up on my camera as a navy blue?! Let me assure you now that it is in fact a dark violet pigmented polish! This is just your average Barry M nail paint, drying with a sleek, glossy finish.

'Berry Ice Cream' is yet another pastel shade, but this time in a dainty pink/purple. Again, as just your generic nail paint, this dries to produce a silky smooth feel.

Finally is 'Princess', a textured glittery nail varnish. This is a royally golden-peach polish which requires just 2 coats to achieve a gorgeously glimmering effect!

I hope that you enjoyed today's post- thank you for reading! Which nail polishes have been your favourite this summer?
