Pretty British Cities

I thought I'd mix it up a bit and veer away from my usual beauty-themed posts, so today's post is going to be a teeny bit different...

Throughout the last few months, my family and I have taken to being tourists in our own country, and have visited some of Britain's most iconic and historic cities and towns. Little day trips like this are so much fun that I wanted to share a little snippet of them with you guys. 

Oxford 

Our first trip was all the way back in March when we took the Park and Ride bus into Oxford city centre. During our time there, we completed all of the generic touristy tasks such as visiting the numerous university colleges and shopping down the notoriously quaint cobbled streets.

Durham

Our next venture was to Durham on a rainy Friday in April. There, we wandered round the idyllic university campus, hiked up a diverse range of ageing streets and took many a photograph of Durham Castle looming over the river.

Nottingham

For once, the weather was actually rather pleasant so we decided to embark on a journey to Nottingham for a little meander around the atmospheric city. Our first stop was a glance around the university, which is situated on a hillside overlooking the River Trent, and is absolutely bursting with exquisitely old buildings. We then took a short drive from the campus into the city centre, for a little bite of lunch before hitting the shops.

Worcester

Our latest excursion was to Worcester, a humble-sized city packed with charming little independent shops amongst larger labels. Before a rather long waltz around the shops, we paid a visit to Worcester Cathedral, which is one of the most extravagantly constructed buildings I've seen. There, we clambered up 235 steps to reach the top of the bell tower, and although our legs were throbbing for hours after, the picturesque views were well worth the pain and strain!
