My Blogging Resolutions | 2015

Happy New Year! February 2015 will mark my one year blogiversary and I'm overjoyed with how my blog has helped me to develop as a person, writer and photographer in the past year. However, sometimes I get a rather hefty case of the green eyed blogger and start envying other peoples' blogging abilities (normally their organisation and photography, both departments I appear to have very little skill in!) Although it is silly to do this as everyone is their own person and let's face it, blogging would be boring if we all were the same, it's pretty easy to fall into that trap. So, in order to avoid putting myself down any further, I've made a rather lengthy list of blog resolutions for the upcoming year.

1. Create a schedule and stick to it
Something I've really struggled with in my first year of blogging is aligning myself and other commitments with my blog. Somehow every time I got into a good pattern of publishing posts, certain occasions would always arise and push that aside. Being unable to post in a repetitive pattern got to me quite a lot as I felt as though I was letting myself, my blog and my audience down. So, this year I've decided not to apply too much pressure on myself and instead aim to post every Sunday. Obviously, when I have a little more time on my hands there will be a couple of bonus posts, and maybe once I've built my blogging mojo back up there is a possibility that I could stretch to publishing two posts a week. However, to keep the pressure on the smaller side, I think once is a good place to start.

2. Develop photography skills
As I mentioned previously, my green eyed blogger tends to envy others photography. Although the photos I publish on my blog have improved rather a lot through the course of the year, I'm still yearning to produce images with more clarity to help enhance the presentational side of my blog. This may involve the purchasing of a new camera, as although the images produced by my iPhone are good enough, they do tend to look a little blurred when blown up on a computer screen. Keep your eyes peeled for better quality photos in the upcoming year!

3. Communicate with other bloggers
Being quite a naturally reserved person, I tend to shy away from socialising with those I don't know too well. However, the blogging community is full of friendly faces sharing almost identical interests to myself. As one of my personal resolutions for 2015 is to socialise more frequently and have the courage to say yes, I hope to introduce myself to more bloggers via the means of social media etc.

4. Introduce elements of fashion and lifestyle to my posts
Currently holalucyhere is mainly centered around all things beauty but as the new year develops, I hope to expand into writing about other topics such as fashion and lifestyle, both equally important subjects in my life. This doesn't mean that the beauty sector of my blog will disintegrate into thin air; I would just like to post about other topics in parallel to that to give my blog a more diverse and richer palette.

5. Plan, plan and plan again
Another blogging issue I struggled through this year was blogger's block. Although my passion for blogging never faltered, I did often struggle to come up with posts that would actually attract some interest and/or posts that I was confident and content with. So, to avoid any last minute panics when I can't seem to conjure up any decent ideas, I've decided to keep a little notebook with me at most times where I can jot down any eureka moments that appear to me. That way, whenever I'm struggling with what to write about, I'll always have something!

So that's it for my blogging resolutions- if you're a fellow blogger, what are yours?
Wishing you the very best in 2015!
